12 MARCH 2020 - SUSPENSION OF IN SITU LESSONS FROM 16.03.2020 TO 29.03.2020 

Dear Families,

Following communication this morning with the Secretary-general of the European Schools and according to instructions from Commissioner Hahn, classes will be suspended in all the European Schools from the 16th until the 29th of March 2020. From Monday the 16th of March, classes will proceed via distance learning.

The only means of communication officially authorised by the School will be via Announcements of SMS where all e-mails of parents and pupils are correct and up to date.

You are reminded that the outgoing e-mail of SMS is noreply@myschoolmanagement.com which is used in the name of the European School. Please add this address to your list of contacts to avoid that messages enter your SPAM box by mistake.

Guidelines for distance learning in Primary

  • Primary teachers will prepare lessons, assign homework and reading activities using Announcements of SMS;
  • Parents and pupils will communicate with their teachers and return finished homework via e-mail;
  • No other means of communication is permitted
  • The pupils should take home their books and materials tomorrow, Friday 13th of March.

Guidelines for distance learning in Secondary

  • Pupils must respect the timetable of all their classes established in SMS;
  • Pupils will receive all communications of work by Announcements of SMS;
  • Pupils will receive instructions from their teachers in the use of any other available tools, outside of the textbooks of each subject:
    • Office 365 as well as Teams, OneNote, Forms,…
    • Platforms of Moodle and EduMedia
    • External links with pages of pedagogical content and videos of streaming platforms such as YouTube.
    • It is not allowed in any case to use social media as a means of communication or to submit work to teachers (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook,…)
    • In order to retrieve material from lockers in Secondary, tomorrow Friday the 13th of March, all pupils should take home all their materials (the families of the pupils who are on school trips may do this from 16h30).

No pupil of the School will have access to the buildings from Monday the 16th of March 2020.

Measures regarding information, precaution and prevention

It is very important that families are alert to all official communications sent by SMS and that they follow the instructions and recommendations received.

During the period of suspension of classes, parents are obliged to inform the School using the e-mail confidencial.eea@escuelaeuropea.org of any medical incident involving COVID-19 of the pupil or close family members in order to follow the containment protocols.

Please find attached the updated communication from the Office of the Secretary-general of the E.S regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 disease prepared in cooperation with the European Commission’s Medical Services.

Any European school family who has visited the regions mentioned in the communication should immediately contact Public Health Authorities in Spain via 112 and inform the School of the situation using the e-mail: confidencial.eea@escuelaeuropea.org

Please take note of the precautionary measure that adults and children in this situation should self-isolate for a minimum period of 14 days.
