Languages in our school

LANGUAGE I |
Language I (L1) is taught from the age of admission into the nursery cycle, throughout the school life and is the language of the section in which the pupil is enrolled. Host language sections: German, Spanish, French and English. Language I: All EU languages. For SWALS pupils (students without a language section), L1 is different from the language of the section. For SWALS, L2 will be the language of the section.

| LANGUAGE II |
The study of the first vehicular language is compulsory in all European Schools. It starts in the year I of Primary education and goes until year 7 of Secondary education. Vehicular languages: German, English or French.

LANGUAGE III |
The study of a second foreign language is compulsory from year 1 to year 5 in Secondary and optional in years 6 and 7. The School offers the following options for language III: German, English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese (the organization of these courses is subject to the minimum number of pupils).

| LANGUAGE IV |
The study of a third foreign language is OPTIONAL from year 4 in Secondary. The School offers the following options for language IV: German, English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese (the organization of these courses is subject to the minimum number of pupils). |
| LANGUAGE V |
The study of a fourth foreign language is OPTIONAL as a complementary subject in years 6 and 7 in Secondary. The School offers the following options for language V: Italian, Portuguese y Dutch (the organization of these courses is subject to the minimum number of pupils)
